I thought I'd post this here in the e&w thread even though it might be viewed less than in the coffee shop. I guess the trade off for me is, not being surprised about an eventual proposal but, since I know what I want usually, I would be completely satisfied with my e-ring. But, there's just something about a guy who spends his time/effort alone to get the perfect ring which to me is so sweet! So....surprise or pick your own?

There are so many choices, and often guys go along with what the salesperson recommends, which may not be at all what you had in mind. My husband, left on his own, has picked out some real winner jewelry presents for me (insert sarcasm here ) so for something like an engagement ring, I'd rather take a little bit of the surprise out of it in exchange for knowing the ring was a style I liked. _________________________

And that was only for the setting. I have so far, refused to go diamond hunting. Then, when I told him I thought he'd propose with the BTD Tiffany Repro Asha he got me he was like "oh, oops, I didn't know...that woulda been a good idea!" sigh He still doesn't like sims... He'll probably go to some B&M to get the stone though because he's too much of a worrywart to buy online...and thinks it's too much of a hassle to make the trip to NYC. Looks like I'll have to do the search with him because I've been told by close friends that "I know exactly what I want all the time..." LOL!
