Aiyeeeee!!! Interesting to see this, now. I was on Takara this morning looking at the beautiful yellow EC and wondering when/if there would be larger stones some day.
Congrats, Less! Looking forward to seeing this beauty, and the press reports.

Sounds wonderful!!
Is there anything I can read explaining why larger stones(3-5ct) aren't made yet? TIA!

I don't know if there is anything to read per se, but the main reason is that the larger the growing space for the diamond, the exponentially more power you have to apply to keep the high pressure the same throughout the larger area...and thats gets very problematic.
That requires more costs, larger and more expensive tungsten anvils (that keep having to be replaced), more power and more likelihood of it breaking down overall.
Thus, its not as profitable, much more problematic and the market for the larger stones is not as big (in terms of volume)...so I think its for all of the above that people aren't designing larger presses to grow larger stones.
We are seeing a lot of demand for 2ct size yellow diamonds though, so I'm hopeful the lab can continue to bring out a diamond or two close to this range every few months.
I'm pretty sure this 2.08ct will be the largest lab grown diamond sold in the US, but I don't have any easy way to verify that. For sure it is the largest one we have ever sold though.
Hope that helps, Less
