Does this look like genuine Mikimoto to you ladies out there? I just bought it on a whim - after one got away from me last night - well got away is an exaggeration perhaps...I didn't even start bidding! It ended up going for over $600 for a very nice lavaliere pendant with five pearls I think it was.
I found this quite by chance - on ebay Switzerland - all in German on the sellers site so no clue what it says! I can just about translate enough of the words to get the gist of what it is!
But I bid on it, and got it for a steal...we shall see if it's real or not. I'm almost sure it's likely not vintage - although the silver chain looks dark...
I kinda think it's cute.
Until I can afford some genuine vintage Miki - or get some wonderful person to hand string a few pearls...it might be something for later this year...Christmas wedding hopefully, even more hopefully - in New York. My man wants to 'come home' - second marriage for me, first for him - both of us just a tad older than we would like to be!
Weddings and pearls just go together so wonderfully though. And something 'drop' or 'Y' or 'lavaliere' would so suit the dress I am planning on. Back to the Princess Grace theme that I asked questions about the ring, here, a few weeks ago. The ring is on hold, the money is better spent towards this coming few months and getting our life into a box ready to move. But once we are settled perhaps. And I have a ring idea in the making with Angelic here at BTD, which is coming together more than I hoped.
I feel like I'm waffling a bit now! Ah yes, Princess Grace, and dresses. I am planning on making a dress...wedding'ish - but not too 'fluffy' - long but plain - sleeves - silk or matt satin skirt, and lace bodice and sleeves. I'll dig around for a picture of the pattern...and post it as soon as.
Still waffling here...back to Miki - The pendant was a steal - it will wing its way from Switzerland to here in the UK - and we shall see - if the hallmark is as it should be!

the pearls look GORGEOUS!! definitely saltwater. from the looks of the pic, i think the pendant and the chain are 2 different metals. the pendant is probably WG and the chain is sterling silver or just silvertone. if it's sterling, gemcare paste will take off the tarnish, guaranteed (i've done it on a SS ring DH made when he was 14)

Mikimoto cultured pearls from Japan in a silver heart with a silver chain. One can clearly see the stamp M and S on the enlargement. Unfortunately the certificate of authenticity is missing.
