Was talking with a coworker this week about smoothies, and how it's such a pain to use a blender to make my son's protein smoothies for his football workouts. (cleaning it is the real pain!)
So, he turned me on to the magic bullet...and we went out tonight, bought a bunch of fruit, berries, soy milk, low fat yogurt, etc....and it was fantastic for a meal replacement.
Anyone else have this? Do you like it? I didn't expect that it can grind coffee beans, grate cheese, and even chop onions--too cool!

We got one for Christmas last year (2006) and it lasted for about a year with fairly heavy use. We didn't grind coffee with it but it was great for protein shakes! I think we have to get a new one - we just joined a gym and the trainer is putting us back on protein shakes, so it's worth it!
Be SUPER careful with the blades - it's kind of dorkily constructed and hard to store unless you remember to connect the bits together, and they're very sharp. Don't ask me how I know this.

I agree--it's sort of spread out all over the kitchen... I am too tired to pack it up and find a cabinet for it. I like how it comes with lids for traveling...I used to do this organic 'superfood' smoothie thing when I was running more often--but in a blender, and yuck, it tasted horrible. I think I'm going to head to GNC over the weekend, and see if they stock it (it's like a seaweed/algae powdery substance--sounds yummy, no? ) because I have a feeling that the MB will blend it much smoother than the blender, and maybe we'll get all of our protein, minerals, etc in one shake!
Good luck with your trainer--are you hiring this person separately, or do they work 'for' the gym?

I was thinking of getting one too and I may still.
For my smoothie/protein shakes I just use a stick blender.....Blend it up and rinse it off, done! Easy. I like easy! I hate bunches of little parts to wash, etc, and why I don't use my big blender to make em.
