I've gotten the go-ahead to start planning my ruby ring. <3 Lifelong dream, I *always* wanted a ruby ring but only ever received cheap garnets (I like nice ones, but not badly cut ones ).

We're not sure what the budget is but it will be fairly modest, all things being equal - and realistic. I'm totally fine with a lab-created one but have no idea where to go for the yummiest, richest, deepest, most red ones so would love to see pics of all rubies! Very curious to see the BTD ones, and Chatham ones as well. I'm not sure yet what cut, but am leaning towards a cushion...

Help me plan!

Here are some that I love:

Isn't that just tdf!? My dream ruby ring was always one of those halo styles - a la Fergie's (erm, the *original* Fergie ) ring...and Diana's, of course. I thought they were a little passe until I saw these two and my knees got weak.

But I'm still drawn to a super simple stunner solitaire...

What about this http://www.moissaniteco.com/moissanite-engagement-ring-14k-gold-pall-p-6215.html with a 9mm cushion cut ruby and double claw prongs? Any photoshoppers around? ;1

BTD 7mm cushion lab ruby - it doesn't have a home yet. It is one of my colored orphans \:\(

They are a gorgeous stone. If you decide to go with a BTD ruby, I think you will be very pleased.

Oh my, that would be dreamy!!!! ;9

Also, I think the BTD rubies are gorgeous. I saw a Chatham one the other day and it looked like the BTD ruby but I'm thinking the BTD stone would be much cheaper.

Also, I have a few pieces with Winfields synthetic rubies. They might have a little bit more pink undertone to them then the BTD ruby, but still VERY gorgeous and of course, much less expensive then the BTD or Chatham rubies in the 9mm size.

Mined Burmese Ruby pear next to Interlap Radiant cut:
