I had a ring on my watch list and it was ending last night...The photos were nice, and description says there are very few inclusions for this sized stone. A couple of hours before it ended, I sent a question to the seller saying that I understood there were inclusions but was the stone was more translucent or opaque since it was hard to tell from the photos (looks fairly translucent from photos). Didn't hear back before it ended and decided to bid, and I won. So then I get the invoice from the seller and a second email with a response from them saying, essentially, there are many noticeable inclusions and I hope you don't want to buy it because my son wants it. I haven't responded yet...
;\)

Is it seller's remorse or a crappy piece?! They do have a return policy - should I just go ahead and get it and return it if it's kakapoopy?

ebay invoices are sometimes just automatically generated and sent after an auction ends. maybe you should ask the seller what he would like you to do?

Sounds very hinky. I think I'd bow out because if you get it and don't like it, what are they going to do then. I don't like it when I get an uneasy feeling about a transaction. My gut is usually smarter than my head and heart combined!

if it's so terribly included, why does her son want it?

I wouldn't take the chance on it and just let her son have it, if that's the case. Weird that they didn't just end the auction instead of letting somebody bid and win the item.

You will find something better!

If it were me, I would guess she didnt like the price it sold for. I would pay for it (paypal funded with a credit card) and see how it looks. Even if she balks when you want to return it, you have PP on your side. If she doesnt want to sell it, I would report her for non-performance. I hate when sellers say "sorry it broke" or some other excuse when you know darn well they just wanted more money!!
Moral of the seller story? Dont start your list price at anything less then what you will accept/want!!!
