My 5 yr old dd is a really picky eater and hates most meat - anyone have any creative school lunch ideas? We've done pita, cream cheese, crackers, dips etc to death and I'm running out of new ideas. The school is nut free as well so that limits things as well. On the other hand ds, 2 years old eats anything! (I'm worried when he becomes a teenager because he's going to eat me out of house and home)
thanks in advance!!

thanks, oh that's great, I will shred cheese, slice mushrooms and tomatoes put in little containers and she can make her own - maybe in those mini pita's. We did something similar to this in the taco theme and she loved it.

Just thowing out some non-meat ideas... not sure how 5-year olds like these though.

egg salad
falafel
hummus
rice and beans
veggie burger
cream chesse & avocado sandwich

I know, I know, these sound more like adult foods... sorry I'm not much help!

My youngest is like that she loves to pick her own pasta at our health store. Cavatelli=mini dogs, malloreddus=def look like worms, but plain or tri color fusilli works too, seasoned w/tad of unsalted butter to prevent sticking.
I buy all kids of cheeses and cut them w/mini cookie cutters.
Hummus and pita stars works for her too.

Let's see. I was (and still am) a very picky eater. You could try, pasta like those mini Chef Boyardee thingies. How about turkey sandwiches those are always good.

Mac and cheese like one of the ladies mentioned. Lunchables. Jelly sandwiches. Grilled cheese, perhaps? Cheese doodles or chocolate pudding for dessert. Pizza.

have you tried oatmeal with raisens or cranberries? smashed sweet potatoes. I use a small thermos and it keeps things pretty warm til lunch.

Yummy- now I want hummus and falafel!!! :-D
There's a pita place, and that's the one I always get.
I'm what you call a flexitarian- I try to avoid meat as much as possible, but when needed I'll have fish or chicken (NO beef, pork or lamb!!).
I have a huge weakness for sushi!!!
As for the kiddo- let me figure it out herself :-D
Let her pick a few foods when you go shopping that way she feels like she has more control and will more than likely end up finding new things herself.
I don't recommend forcing anything on her- my dad did that to me and to this day I just hate onions, tomatoes and beets. :P
Much luck!!!
