I need to remove pearls from a pair of earrings . anyone know an easy way? they are glued in. I was able to get 2 of them free by soaking in gemcare but these two are stubborn. thanks in advance!

I won't be of any help...my motto is "if it doesn't fit, force it" and I'd probably break something if I were trying to remove pearls (either the pearl, the setting, or perhaps the pearl would fly out and hit me in the eye and blind me :o)! I know that fingernail polish remover would kill the pearls...so that's out...sorry! I am useless ;1

hmm...I wonder if a blow dryer would help melt the glue? I have no idea...wish I knew a good answer!

Actually, I used to work for a jewelry company where we set pearls. We always used either finger nail polish remover or straight acetone to remove pearls from settings- in only takes 5-10 min- no damage to the pearls for that length of time.

Maybe you can try to drop the solution into hole rather than soak the whole pearl in?
