I am currently reading a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. Very readable and engrossing- don't be intimidated by the fact that each book is nearly 1,000 pages long!! I read the first book in less than a week and I was hooked. I just finished the 5th book in the series. I'm having trouble getting my book club books read because I'm so involved with Claire and Jamie Fraser!!

So, what is everybody reading?

I'm reading Narcissistic Families - second time through and highlighting things - and I'm finally beginning to understand myself and how I can change so I don't repeat mistakes with my family. It's exhausting...I'd much rather read a novel! My most recent one was The Other Boleyn Girl...loved it!

One of my all-time favorite books is a kid's book by Peggy Bacon called The Ghost of Opalina...some kids move into an old house and when playing in the attic, the youngest one keeps talking about the cat in the chair...the older kids ignore her until they too see it, and it's Opalina, a gorgeous white long-haired ghost kitty. She then takes the kids through the history of the house and the adventures she lived during her nine lives. It's *very* cool but hard to find now.

Jenny, I'm glad you started thread. My Favorite books are currently the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. They are absolutely the most intriguing wonderful story ever. There is some good suspense but no gore. If you are considering reading them, definitely go for it. You should get all four books though, because once you are done with one of them you will immediately pick up the next one. Its one continuous story in four books. The first book is Twilight, then New Moon then Eclipse and finally Breaking Dawn.

For those of your who are not necessarily into "fantasy" type things you should still read these books. The author makes everything so real and actually makes you want it to be real. My mom hates anything fantasy but she adores these books.

MissD, I know you asked if the Vampires in the Twilight series were sanguine. I don't want to give anything away for those are are intending to read it, but they are not sanguine. However, they are good Vampires. The book explains how that's possible, so anyone interested, please please please go check it out.

Kind of on-topic, kind of off-topic... but does anyone have the Kindle from Amazon.com?

I keep looking at it, thinking it's a great idea since my books take up so much space!

There are 6 books in the Claire and Jamie Fraser series, plus a companion book called The Outlandish Companion which gives a summary of each book, plus anecdotes, character glossary, and other tidbits of information. She also has a trilogy of books that are about Lord John, who is closely intertwined with the Frasers.
