Hi, since everybody here has always been helpful when I've asked questions before; I would like to ask for some help on pearl stud earrings.
I want to buy a pair for everyday use in the next week or so for myself; in the $100-200 range; cheaper would be great though. I am interested in the 7mm-8mm size,no bigger or they would look weird on my small lobes. I would prefer good quality Akoya pearls (to last me), but would also consider a pair of well matched VERY round high quality FW pearls (not dyed or bleached though).
I would like to get just a very well matched pair half drilled as I can get my own simple style gold mountings online and I have industrial strength jewelry glue to make them myself or if I find a pair of studs I really love,I would be fine buying them already set too. I've been keeping my eye on Ebay for used Mikimoto 18kt studs. There is 1 auction going right now for in the 7mm range 18ktyg and they look to be in top notch used condition, but I'm unsure how much they will end at. I was also considering Blue Nile, but that would put my at the top of my price if not over. I noticed somebody else in another post recommended TaDragon from Ebay. I looked them up and I saw a few pairs I really liked slightly under $100, but was unsure about ordering over sea's. Does anybody else have any suggestions on where to go?
Oh also, for the cup and peg mounts if I am able to just buy the pearls, where would you recommend buying them online? I did find some from Firemountaingems, but was wondering what else is out there?
Thanks Melissa

Wow Bling, thanks for the super quick reply. I checked out your link and when I get home I will go over the whole site. Do you know how there other colors are in person? For those prices I just have to buy more than 1 pair

i haven't bought any other colors from them but i imagine they'd be gorgeous!
they have a 90 day return policy, so i guess if you don't like the colors, you can return them. not sure if they refund on shipping, though.

Bling, I came across these on Ebay and loved the color. Not as big as I wanted, but just love the color. What do you think?
After looking at the link you posted for some time I'm not sure if they are right for me. I actually prefer a muted pearl surface that seems to glow from within. I don't really like the mirror like surface. It seemed by your photo's that your earrings had a very mirror like surface.

i think the pearllunar earrings are gorgeous. <3 i've never bought from her, but i know MsT has and a few other ladies here have, too. her earrings are also very lustrous. i think my earrings are a rose overtone so they appear different. i had a pair that had ivory overtones, and they were more muted and did seem to glow from within.

My first pair of Akoya studs were from PL and they were fantastic!!! I gave them to my mother because my friend who owns a pawn shop gave me a pair of similar studs as a gift. In any event, the PL studs were really high luster and perfectly matched. My only complaint was the earring back could have been larger. I paid 75.
I loved my Freshadama necklace (never had the earrings) and have always been impressed with Bling's earrings. Yum! I do prefer the softer luster of akoya to freshwater though. Found that out through trial and error.
I don't like the studs shown in the ebay link. The color isn't right. Go for something white with rose overtones. That is universally appealing.

Well, after buying my first pearl studs from MsT, Thank you very much by the way.
I think I have to buy a pearl cloth or cleaner, watching a few auctions from Pearlluna, LOL. What would everybody recommend for cleaning pearls?
