This item: http://diamondbistro.com/category/217/As...and-A-Asha.html went up on DB, and I made the offer to purchase (up to $258 w/ resizing!!). I sent the funds via Paypal, and at the Seller's request, to note it as 'Living Expenses' so as not have to pay fees. So, I did and sent funds Sept 27th, 2009. To date, I still don't have the ring -- it is still listed on DB, and the only communication I have from the Seller is if I initiate it first. She states she is out of work and a single mother, and that the jeweler had trouble with one of the prongs and what seems to me as just excuses.... One of the emails I rec'd regarding this ring was: lessw@diamondbistro.com (which I thought was odd...) Should I ask for funds back? Do you know this Seller? Has scams happened like this before? What are my options? thx, Heather *very distressed

I just sent her an email explaining that I've been more than patient, as it's been 3 weeks, with no updates or communication... and asked her to refund me. We'll see what happens. It's people like this that give a bad name to fairly reputable website that is very much welcomed here by BTD.

If you sent money through PayPal, all you can do is open a dispute and try to get money back. I'd do it ASAP. Go to PP Resolution Center. Open dispute, which I think you're allowed 45 days to to but do it now. Pay attention to all deadlines and in this case, I'd immediately escalate it to a claim. The seller can either toss the ring in the mail to you immediately or have a black mark on her PayPal record. Edited by AdaBeta27 (10/19/09 04:06 PM)

I'd do something (credit card or paypal) asap.... by her having you note the sale as living expenses, you may have a problem proving you really bought something... I would start on the dispute or charge back immediately and make sure you keep all communication from her that proves you really bought a ring and didn't send her living expenses. If it is still up on DB, she may be trying to run the same scam on someone else.
