HELP PLEASE!
I am looking for my engagement ring and trying to decide between these three: 1922 cartier in Asscher OR cushion, or the mircopave halo setting with a cushion cut. I come from a VERY affluent area & a ring ranging from 2-4 carats will be very believable. I want something to look in the 3-4 range BUT here is the problem.

I have VERY TINY fingers: ring size is a 3.25! My boyfriend thinks a ring too big will look ridiculous on me. I agree, but I really want a 3 carat.

2 questions: WHat do you guys think?
Also, does anyone have ANY pictures of the Asha in a halo setting? The colored stone on the website is making it hard for me to visualize.

Please help. Thanks!!!

http://betterthandiamond.com/discussion/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/523148 is a halos thread here. You could also look through Pricescope.com's Show Me the Ring engagement ring thread to see diamond halos.

3ct Asscher is 8mm diameter, which is the diameter of a 2ct RB.

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=12734 is 2.04ct RB on a 2 3/4 finger. Look at other threads on PS, too. because it's easire to get stone specs and ring sizes out of those threads so you cna check proportions against your hands. Finger length is a bigger factor than ring size. I have short fingers and broad hands. 8mm does look like a boulder of my finger, hehe.

There are lots of Asha pictures here but maybe not so much info that's readily ID'd as ring size, etc. When I search here, I use Google: whateverIamsearching for site:betterthandiamond.com Finds more specific items and also gets the older threads that the search feature here can't seem to find.

I think you have this in the wrong section \:\)

Size 3.25 is insanely tiny! That is literally half of my size! LOL! If my fingers were that big, I don't think I'd go above 2.5 cts, but that's just me! Get whatever you love & will be proud wearing \:\)

There are all kinds of pictures of the asha in the halo section - check out the customer photo gallery: http://picasaweb.google.com/BetterThanDiamond

Go to CUSTOMER GALLERY forum and look for a post from me titled
Arwen pics take 2...I posted my 2ct 8mm cushion (ACC) halo there on 9/25/09.

Sorry I don't know how to repost it.....:)

Have you gone to some stores and tried on the stone size in a few different ring shapes to see how it looks on your finger?
I would suggest that so you get a true idea of how it will look on you.....my other thought is to get what you like.

hope this helps and congrats on your engagement

Also, if you halo an 8mm stone, you could wind up with a ring that's 14-15mm across the top, and that might make a great cocktail look but not so great e-ring look on a small hand. Might not leave room for a wedding band, either.

I'm not rude. I just am in hurry so I gave you fast answers. :-)

Here's a thread on PS with e-rings 3+ cts and over. Keep in mind that a 3ct solitaire alone will look HUGE on your tiny finger (lucky gal). If you halo that, you might need a sling to hold your hand up! j/k As AdaBeta said, it might end up looking like a cocktail ring with all the finger coverage.

"I want something to look in the 3-4 range" If you got a 2ct stone and haloed it, you'll get the look of a 3ct e-ring.

As far as believability, you'll be set with whichever asha you pick. They are amazing. Here's a believability story with a 10mm/4ct interlap (another terrific sim but asha is top notch) on a size 4 finger. No pics but good story on how a quality setting enhances the realism.

Here's Lannie's asha center stone 6.5mm in a halo. In the pic where her hand is farthest from the camera, you can see how large the halo makes the stone look, and I think her finger might be quite larger than yours - at 3.5, all of us are larger!

If you have tiny fingers and are wanting a large stone, I'd also say no to a halo.. because it would be HUGE. My fingers are size 4 and they are about 15mm across, at size 3.25 you're probably 14mm. So a halo on a 8mm/3ct might be bigger than your finger!

I think the 1922 Cartier would look awesome in the 3ct asscher, if you really want a 3ct, get it! It's not your BF who will be wearing the ring~! (I told my FH this a lot while looking for the ring.. he couldn't figure out why I was spending SO much time on the decision)

When you get your ring you better show some pics \:D

I wish my fingers were a 3.5! They're a 7.5! \:\) Those pics were of my 2nd to last halo, here's my current one.

EDIT: I totally misread your post. My pregnancy brain interpreted it as "a quarter larger". Oy! Yes, mine are significantly larger than hers!

Someone just told me that the Asscher cut doesn't sparkle as much as others. She said she was upset that her ring was less sparkly than her friends.'

I was starting to lean toward Asscher before I heard this...

Have you guys heard about this, or have any personal experience with this?
