Hi everyone \:\)

I've been lurking for a long time and have just started posting a couple of weeks ago (out of fear lol - I'm a PS member too :p)

I have wanted to try out moissanite since in small sizes it seems to be very diamond like from what I gathered? I have wanted bezeled stud earrings for a while so I thought this would be the best way to try moissy out, but I don't really want to spend more than around 250 USD...Ideally I would like them to be 1ctw, but that may be out of my price range.

Where would I be able to find moissy bezels (I could do with semi bezels as well) other than moissanite&co? (I drooled over many of the items earlier this morning drinking my chai latte hehe!!)

You girls seem really good at finding deals so if anyone feels like helping out a newbie I would very much appreciate it \:\)

Thanks in advance!

Welcome BMV! We have a few PSers here, too, and we welcome anyone with a love of all things sparkly whether natural or sims.

Here's a perfect match for what you're looking for. BTD has a "classfied" section, DiamondBistro.com, where members sell their sparklies for various reasons. Make sure you vet the seller whenever you buy and ask for references from them and also here on the boards.

ETA - these are owned by meldew who has very good feedback here so you're in luck!

To get you started, meldew's feedback -

MoissaniteCo.com, a board vendor, will also have some reduced items in their one time discount section. Here's page 3 (scroll to bottom) with some moissy earrings, although not bezels.
Just to give you a comparison, MoissaniteCo here is like PS's equivalent of GOG or WF.

Post pics if/when you get them. Requied here, too, just like PS! \:\)

Thanks for the welcome MrsGotRocks! \:\)

I did see those on Diamond Bistro and did contact the seller last week about these but I didn't get a response after my second message (on sunday) so I got the feeling that maybe they didn't want to sell them to me (maybe because I'm in the UK, I don't know \:\) ) which prompted me to see if you girls knew of anywhere else where I could maybe find a pair. I don't mind ebay if that helps. \:\) Are there any trusted moissy ebay vendors?

I've tried to search function here but have not been very succesful so far...

I should have mentioned diamond bistro in my first post so as to not have wasted your time, sorry!!

Oh, that's too bad about the no response. Maybe she's on vaca. I'm not the best person to ask about ebay as I don't frequent there too often, but I'm sure some of the other ebay queens \:\) will chime in here with their recomendations. It's on the early side for the board right now but I know you'll get some answers.

Hi Mike, Thanks for the link, that's very kind! Those are gorgeous and exactly what I am looking for.

I don't mean to be rude but why is the shipping so expensive? I've paid up to $30 before and already thought that was quite high. Also, shipping via Fedex means it will most likely get stuck in customs and I'll have to pay almost $100 on top of that just to receive my item which makes it a bit too expensive for me. \:\(

It is really more a question for Fedex. Our cost to ship to the UK is about $75. Since we provide shipping free to US address via Fedex 2nd day (a $25 value) we discount this from the cost to ship to the UK. Therefore we charge only $50. We ship via Fedex International Priority which arrives in 1 - 3 business days.

$35 is actually on the low end for insured jewelry packages, and could only be done through the US Post Office. I would expect about 2 weeks for delivery and it is not trackable (meaning it goes into the system, disappears, and then it eventually appear in the UK, hopefully).

As far as VAT and other taxes the UK gov't imposes, to deter theft we describe the contents on all international packages as 'Costume Accessories' and put the value at $100USD. I believe this is the number that the British gov't calculates VAT on.

There are certain types of merchandise that tend to disappear when going through customs, and jewelry is one of them. Therefore we rely on a shipping method that is fast, reliable and completely trackable. To date, Fedex has not lost a single international package, and we ship dozens each month.

I lol'd at this because this is what it feels like everytime I buy something in the US haha, well unless it comes with tracking

Thanks for replying! If the package says the value is 100 dollars then, yes, the VAT would be calculated from that amount. I bought a very pretty citrine stone from PG (I think it was PG can't remember anymore) and got an added charge of iirc about 75% of the stone's value as VAT.

Good to know it goes out labeled as costume accesories, I am always so scared my items will get stolen!

Well, thanks Mike, I won't hesistate as much anymore to purchase from MoissaniteCo \:\) Am I right to assume it is the same for ashadiamonds?

You could try this ebay store - sells moissy really cheap. I've never bought from them, but I know some board members have? I think I remember that Mike C posted he's bought from him before, too? I remember reading that sometimes things get shipped dirty, but that once you clean them, they're okay. Disclaimer: My memory may be incorrect. ;\)
